Signature campaign initiated to create voter awareness

The Narmada district administration has initiated a signature campaign to create voter awareness, District Election Officer Rakesh Shankar of the tribal dominated Narmada district bordering Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh said here today.
"We are doing this to increase voter awareness among people to vote and also to increase voter turnout. In the 2009 parliamentary elections, voter turnout was 67.33 per cent," the collector said.
A total of 70,510 signatures pledging support for democracy and poll participation is being collected at different locations in Narmada district.
