Silver up 0.4% in futures trade

Metal for delivery in far-month May traded higher by 0.3%

Press Trust of India New Delhi
Silver prices rose by Rs 255 to Rs 36,145 per kg in futures trade today after speculators built-up positions even as metal weakened overseas.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver for delivery in March rose by Rs 255, or 0.43%, to Rs 36,145 per kg in business turnover of 774 lots.

On similar lines, the metal for delivery in far-month May traded higher by Rs 100, or 0.27%, to Rs 36,804 per kg in 14 lots.

Analysts said the rise in silver prices at futures trade was mostly attributed to building up of positions by participants but overnight weakness in the metal overseas, capped the gains.

Meanwhile, silver fell 4.2% to $15.59 an ounce in New York yesterday.
