Gujarat Chief Minister Anandiben Patel today asked her cabinet colleagues and government officials to simplify the official communication by making it understandable to all.

Addressing the ministers and bureaucrats on the last day of three-day 'Chintan shibir' or brainstorming session, Patel advocated an urgent need to simplify the government functioning to fulfil the expectations of the common man and enable him to finish his work without getting stuck in administrative complexity.

As a first step towards the common man-friendly governance, the CM appealed to them to simplify the language of government notifications (GRs) and resolutions that anybody can understand, an official release stated.

She further asked the policy-makers to think on ways to come out from the age-old working style and start working towards simplifying the government communication, it said.

Patel suggested the administrators to read out the GRs and notifications in front of lower-rung employees so as to make them understand about various public welfare schemes.

During her speech, the CM asked district collectors development officers (DDOs) to visit least-developed areas in their respective regions and develop a comprehensive plan for the development of that area.

The eighth edition of the brainstorming session, held at Mahatma Mandir in Gandhinagar, was attended by all ministers, parliamentary secretaries, senior secretaries of various departments, IAS officers, collectors, DDOs and other key officers.

The outcome of this session should be implemented at the ground level and I will do a detailed review after three months of the implementation of all the decisions taken here in this shibir, the release quote her as saying.
