Union Coal Minister Shriprakash Jaiswal today inaugurated the site office for a 1,980-MW thermal power plant at Kasimpur here.
The project is being jointly implemented by Neyvelli Lignite Corporation and Uttar Pradesh government.
Jaiswal said that once ready, the project would go a long way towards meeting the demand for power in the state.
He said that unless affected by glitches, work on the plant may begin next year and the Neyveli Uttar Pradesh Power Ltd facility may be completed within three years.
