Six bogies of a goods train derailed at Dongargarh railway station on the Mumbai-Howrah route in Chhattisgarh's Rajnandgaon district today, an official said.

The derailment affected the rail traffic on the route for nearly two hours before it resumed in the evening.

The incident occurred when the train, carrying crude oil, was heading towards Kolkata from Chennai when six of its bogies jumped off the track at Dongargarh railway station yard this afternoon, he said, adding no injury or loss to life is reported in the incident.

"However, oil was leaking from one of the wagons which had overturned after derailment but the wagon was completely emptied by the railway personnel and the situation is under control," the official said.

As per the preliminary investigation, the incident caused financial loss to the tune of crores, however, the exact figure would be assessed only after complete enquiry, he said.

Probe is on to ascertain the cause behind the derailment.
