With a palpable sense of relief and joy on their faces, six persons from Tamil Nadu arrived here tonight from quake-hit Nepal.
The six men, all aged between 22-30, were flown here from Delhi by a flight and received by the Chennai Collector and their relatives at the airport here.
Karthik and Balu, two of the survivors, said they had to trek 17 km from a remote Nepalese village to Kathmandu when the quake struck. On their way back, they saw a large number of dead bodies, they said.
"Once we reached Kathmandu, we found utter chaos everywhere. We ourselves hunted for relief personnel and managed to contact the Indian embassy, who provided us flight tickets to Delhi," Karthik said.
On April 28, 32 persons from Tamil Nadu had arrived here from Nepal.
On Sunday, Tamil Nadu government had said 311 persons belonging to the state were stranded in Nepal following the earthquake and that efforts were on to bring them back safely.
The devastating earthquake on April 25 has killed nearly 6,000 people and injured at least 11,000 others.
