Sixty bottles of illicit liquor seized in Pb

An alleged bootlegger has been arrested and sixty bottles of illicit liquor were seized from his possession, police said today.

The police identified the man as Sandip Kumar, a resident of Sham Nagar area.

"We acted on a tip off that illicit liquor was being smuggled into the area from Goraya side," a police spokesman said.

A special 'naka' (checkpost) was laid at Hargobindnagar crossing last night and when the car approached the area we stopped it before searching it thoroughly, he said.

"Sixty bottles of illicit liquor were recovered from the car and its owner Sandip was arrested under relevant sections of Excise Act," he added.
