The generation of solar energy in Punjab rose 172 times from 9 MW to 1,550 MW in last three years, state's New and Renewable Energy Minister Bikram Singh Majithia said today.
The Minister was here to inaugurate the 7.5 KW solar power plant for street lights on Kathunanagal-Chawinda Devi road.
Highlighting the keen interest of NRIs in solar energy projects in the state, he said NRIs have invested Rs 655 crore for 91 MW projects whereas foreign investors have put in Rs 562 crore for 79 MW projects.
