Soybean prices surged 1.37 per cent to Rs 3,248 per quintal in futures trade today as speculators raised bets, driven by upbeat overseas sentiment.
Marketmen said participants widened positions amid a firm trend in global markets.
At the National Commodity and Derivative Exchange, soybean for delivery in January contracts strengthened Rs 44, or 1.37 per cent, to Rs 3,248 per quintal, with an open interest of 71,800 lots.
The delivery for February also advanced Rs 31, or 0.95 per cent, to Rs 3,284 per quintal with an open interest of 2,66,050 lots.
