SP activist shot dead in UP

An activist of Samajwadi Party was shot dead allegedly by unidentified men near his house in neighbouring Shamli district, police said today.

Avnish Tyagi (45), an SP activist and former member of Shamli municipality, was shot dead yesterday, Additional SP V K Mishra said.

Police rushed on the spot and began the search operation.

Old enmity is stated to be the reason behind the murder.
