Special purpose vehicle for setting up electronic units

Kerala government has entrusted the state run Keltron to set up a Special Purpose Vehicle for starting electronic industries in the state.

A decision in this regard was taken at a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan here yesterday, an official release said here today.

The Intel Corporation, the manufactures of semi-conductor and micro processor has agreed to co-operative in the venture, the release said.

It was planned to develop laptops and processors using Intel processor, it was stated.

The venture was expected to provide a new thrust to the electronic industries in the state, the release added.

The new company was planned based on the report of the Kerala Electronics and Hardware Mission.

 

The mission had submitted a detailed report in August this year outlining the potential, challenges and road map for electronics system design and manufacturing and promotion of the States startup ecosystem.

The Mission was set up after Kerala government singed an MOU with Intel and UST Global for exploring the possibility of transforming the state into an electronic hardware manufacturing hub.
