Sri Lankan national arrestedfor illegally entering country

A Sri Lankan national was arrested en route to Dhanushkodi this morning for illegally entering the country, police said.

Anthony Arul Jayarathnam (42) of Mullaitheevu in Jaffna peninsula was held near the third sand dune off Arichalmunai.

Police said Anthony had arrived in the country illegally by a ferry after paying Rs one lakh to the operator. He had left behind his wife and three children in the island nation, they said.

Further investigation is on, Coast Guard officials and police said.
