The Goa government today said that the state museum will be relocated to Old Goa Medical College (GMC) building that housed Asia's oldest medical college.

The building also hosted the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) since 2004.

Goa Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar told the State Legislative Assembly that the state museum would be shifted to Old GMC building from existing premises at Patto on the outskirt the capital city.

Parsekar said the process to shift the museum is yet to start "because presently the Old GMC premises are occupied by Entertainment Society of Goa."

ESG which is hosting IFFI was supposed to vacate the building after the festival in 2014.

"As soon as Old GMC is available the process of shifting will start," the chief minister said.
