Student kidnapped, freed

A student of a government senior secondary school was today kidnapped, allegedly planned by his classmate, but was freed within an hour after police swung into action, forcing the abductors to flee leaving the victim on the roadside, police said.

The student, Harwinder Singh of Government Senior Secondary School of Majitha assembly constituency was kidnapped from school premises allegedly by four persons, who also shot fire in air, they said.

As soon the crime was committed, the principal of the school informed the police, which swung into action and launched the search operation after cordoning off the area

SSP Dr Gurprit Singh Gill himself launched the search and within hours the student was freed by the kidnappers within hour on the roadside, they said, adding the entire area was sealed by the police.
 

Elaborating about the cause of kidnapping, police said the victim had a quarrel with his classmate a day back.

Today the accused classmate, along with his accomplice came to school, fired gunshot in air and kidnapped him.

Police is looking for the four accused, including the accused classmate, they said.
