Sudipta Sen remanded to judicial custody for a week in Odisha

The Enforcement Directorate's petition for taking in its custody Saradha Group chief Sudipta Sen was today posted by a local court to July 10, while he was sent to seven days judicial custody.

District and Sessions Judge, Khurda, Durga Prasanna Choudhury, fixed July 10 as the date for hearing on the ED's petition seeking to take Sen in its remand and sent him to judicial custody in Jharpada jail.

Sen was produced in court by ED and Kolkata Police.

"We are hopeful to get some more clues from Sen after taking him into custody," an ED official, present in the court, said, adding that the directorate expected attachment of more properties of the Group in Odisha.
 

The ED had attached the Group's properties valued at Rs 35.4 crore. Rs 1.4 crore in properties were located in Odisha.

The Group had allegedly duped several lakhs of investors in West Bengal and Odisha where it was operating mostly in Balasore and Puri districts.

The Economic Offence Wing of the Crime Branch of Odisha Police, had earlier sealed the Saradha Group's offices in Balasore and Puri.
