Sugar slips on lower offtake

Both varieties of sugar slipped at the Vashi wholesale sugar market today following lower demand from stockists and retailers amid ample arrivals from producing region.

Small sugar (S-30) declined by Rs 26 per quintal to settle at Rs 3,550/3,702 per quintal from Tuesday's closing level of Rs 3,576/3,702.

Medium sugar (M-30) also moved down by Rs 4 per quintal to end at Rs 3,666/3,802 as compared to Rs 3,670/3,802 yesterday.

Following are today's closing rates for sugar (per quintal) with the previous rates given in brackets:

Small sugar (S-30) quality: Rs 3,550/3,702 (Rs 3,576/3,702).

Medium sugar (M-30) quality: Rs 3,666/3,802 (Rs 3,670/3,802).
