The work at Bharat Jute mill at Dasnagar of Howrah district today was suspended citing low production.
The workers found the temporary suspension of work notice put up on the main gate of the jute mill this morning when they reported for duty.
Around 800 workers were affected as a result. Workers, however, claimed that it was not the case.
Union leaders Tarun Chakraborty (INTTUC) and Mihir Kumar Bose (CITU) alleged the management has defaulted in depositing their contribution of PF and ESI.
