Tamil Nadu amends law to export beer

Tamil Nadu Assembly today adopted 25 Bills, including an amendment to enable the state to export beer.

The amendment to the Tamil Nadu Prohibition Act, 1937 to enable beer export and to facilitate it was piloted by Electricity, Prohibition and Excise Minister P Thangamani.

Another bill adopted was Tamil Nadu Regulation of Right and Responsibilities of Landlords and Tenants Bill, which was on the lines of a model bill circulated by the Centre.

The new law aims to regulate rent as per the terms and conditions of the agreement to be entered into between the owner of a premises and the tenant.
 

Also, Tamil Nadu Lifts Act 1997 was amended to regulate setting up, maintenance and safe working of escalators which also includes obtaining licence for escalators from authorities.
