Tamil outfits stage demonstration atop mobile tower

A group of activists belonging to different Tamil outfits today caused a flutter at Uppalam near here when they held a demonstration atop a BSNL mobile phone tower demanding that India boycott the next month's Commonwealth Heads of Government Meet in Sri Lanka.

Pons Ramesh of "Poorangal Movement", who was among the agitators, said they held the protest also to seek Sri Lanka's removal from the CHOGM.

They later heeded to the police plea to come down and dispersed.
