Tata Sky to air Channel NewsAsia International

Direct-to-Home (DTH) major Tata Sky today launched Channel NewsAsia International on its platform, giving 14 million Indian subscribers access to it.

"Tata Sky is a leading DTH service provider in the country and through their platform we will be able to reach audiences across all of India," MediaCorp Vice President Distribution and Content Sales (News) Woon Chuk Chan told reporters here.

The Asian TV news channel was established in 1999 by MediaCorp, a leading media organisation headquartered in Singapore. It was launched in India a year later and was available through cable operators but this is the first time it will be available on a DTH platform, he said, adding the channel is presently available in over 58 million households across 27 territories in Asia.

Pressto to expand operations with 100 more outlets in 2 yrs * Dry cleaning firm Pressto India today said it will open another 100 outlets in the next two years to expand its footprint in the country.

Pressto, which currently runs operates 35 outlets in Mumbai and Delhi-NCR, will expand in new as well as exiting cities.

"Pressto India has unfolded aggressive expansion plans in Metros including Mumbai, Delhi-NCR and soon will expand to Pune, Bangalore & Chandigarh," the company said in a statement.

Tata Power implements IT system to monitor Mumbai netwrk * Tata Power today said that it has implemented Distribution Management System (DMS) to control and monitor its Mumbai network in real time.

With the implementation of DMS, Tata Power would be able to restore supply to its consumers (in the unlikely event of a Power failure) in the shortest possible time without any manual intervention, the company said in a statement.

The system instantaneously determines fault location with a real-time geographical view and actual scenario of the affected area, it said.

The DMS is currently rolled out for 2 zones. The balance 4 zones will be covered in a phased manner by March-2016.
Century Ply acquires 51% stake in Singapore firm

* Century Ply today said it has acquired 51 per cent stake in a Singapore-based firm Innovation Pacific Singapore Pte for Rs 1.07 crore.

Innovation Pacific Singapore was incorporated in October 2015 for wholesale trading of logs, sawn timber, plywood and related products.

"Yes Bank aims to list up to USD 500 million green bond on London Stock Exchange in 2016," it said in a statement.

MIAL launches app to track cargo shipment * Mumbai's International airport (MIAL) has launched a mobile application which helps track cargo shipments.

The GVK Mumbai International Airport, along with its vendor Kale Logistics, has launched the Cargo Mobile App, which enables end-to-end tracking of shipments and helps members of the logistics chain in planning their resources, it said in a statement.
Karbonn Mobiles launches 4G phone 'Quattro'

* Mobile device maker Karbonn today launched 4G smartphone Karbonn Quattro L50, embedded with its own user interface Karbonn Kandy, for Rs 7,990.

"Cutting down on multiple menus, Kandy offers an integrated PCM, wherein users can access the dialer, contacts, logs and messages within a single menu with one swipe," Karbonn said in a statement.

It further said that Kandy interface also provide users with an option to customise their notification and shortcuts tabs to choose which notifications and functions they would want to access on priority, giving one touch access to all the frequently used features.

DataWind launches two new 2G, 3G phones for Rs 2,499 onward * Focusing on low cost smartphone markets, Datawind today announced the launch of Pocket Surfer smartphones PS 2G4X and PS 3G4Z priced at Rs 2,499 and Rs 3,999, respectively.

Both phones will make a debut in the market through retail distribution outlets all over India.

These smartphones come bundled with free unlimited internet browsing for one year on Reliance and Telenor prepaid connection.

Incubation centre worth Rs 2 cr to be operational in 3 months * Textile incubation centre worth Rs 2 crore, being set up by the South India Textile Research Association (SITRA), would become operational in another 3 months, a top official said today.

The centre, set up with the financial support of the union government, has the facility to accommodate two large companies and other outside units can come and utilise it as and when required, Prakash Vasudevan Director SITRA told reporters.

SITRA's diamond jubilee celebrations would be inaugurated on January 22 by Union Textile Minister Santosh Kumar Gangwar, he added.

* RiddiSiddhi Bullions Ltd (RSBL) has launched 'RSBL Spot App' to provide live gold, silver and platinum prices to users.

RSBL Spot application is available on iOS and Android platforms.
