Country's largest software services firm Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) will add 3,000 seats at its Kalinga Park centre in Bhubaneswar, as it expands its presence in Odisha.

TCS Kalinga Park, a facility designed as India's first Platinum-rated LEED IT Campus, has an operational capacity of 4,000 seats.

The company today announced the inauguration of Phase II of the campus, leading to an addition of 3,000 seats. It was inaugurated by Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.

TCS Kalinga Park campus is an approved Special Economic Zone and serves global TCS customers in industry segments like Banking & Financial Services, Retail, Telecom, Manufacturing, and Government, TCS said in a statement.

The company has been operating in Odisha since 1999.

"Odisha has a strong education ecosystem that is helping source great talent from the region. We are delighted with the growth of our operations and the support of the state government that will help us drive growth of the IT industry in the state", TCS CEO and Managing Director N Chandrasekaran said.
Despite facing difficulties in the passport e-seva

project, Chandrasekaran said TCS will continue to bid for government projects.

"We will be bidding on domestic projects...TCS has invested a lot in the Indian market in mission critical projects...So it is not fair to say that all government projects are bad," he said.

Apart from the passport project, he said the company has worked for a host of domestic entities like the NSE, BSE, NSDL, Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Income Tax Department, and the state governments of Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh.

Asked about the difficulties surrounding the digital vertical of a large company, he said TCS does not look at it as a challenge because it has made the right investments in the past.

He said as "everything becomes digital", the company is set to exceed its expectations on the performance of the digital stream.

As against the target of achieving USD 5 billion in revenues from the segment in a few years, announced last year, it has already touched USD 2 billion at present, he added.
