A school teacher was sent to jail on Teachers Day today after he was arrested on the charge of molesting a class III student of a government run school in Bamungola area of Malda district.
The police said Nityananda Mandal, the head-teacher of Udhail Primary School, was arrested last night after the mother of the alleged victim lodged an FIR.
According to the FIR, Mandal used to call the girl in his chamber on some pretext and molest the girl and this had been going on for about 10 days.
A local court remanded him to 14 days' jail custody today.
