Telangana govt awaiting test results of Maggi

Samples are being tested at Institute of Preventive Medicine to check presence of MSG and lead

Press Trust of India Hyderabad
The Telangana Government is awaiting results of the tests conducted on popular instant noodles 'Maggi' for taking a call on initiating a ban.

"We are awaiting the report (on analysis of samples). On Monday (June 8), first report is due," Suresh Chanda, Principal Secretary (Health), told PTI here.

The government would take a call on the matter after going into the reports, he said.

He was responding to a query on reports in a section of the media that a temporary ban has been put on the sale of Maggi noodles in the state.

The samples are being tested at Institute of Preventive Medicine (IPM) here to check presence of monosodium glutamate (MSG) and lead.

The sale of Maggi noodles is already banned in Nepal, Delhi and four more states of Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Jammu and Kashmir and Uttarakhand after concerns were raised over presence of monosodium glutamate (MSG) and lead beyond permissible levels in the product.
