Tension erupts after minor mishap

Tension gripped Deoband town of Saharanpur district today when some people vandalised shops following a petty dispute, a senior police officer said here.

Two youths Arun and Aditya were assaulted when their motorcycle collided with a cyclist and injured him, IG (Law and Order) R K Vishwakarma told reporters.

After this incident the youths returned with 20-25 persons and vandalised a few shops, but police soon brought the situation under control, he said adding, one company PAC has been posted at the town as a preventive measure.

Some persons have been arrested in connection with the incident, the officer added.
