A 35-year-old villager from Dahanu taluka here has been arrested for allegedly raping a married woman in the locality, police said today.
Accused Dileep R Harke, a resident of Soman Pada hamlet of Dharampur was arrested last evening on the charges of sexually assaulting the woman a month ago when she was alone at home, PSI M K Gharat of Kasa police station said.
The abuse came to light when the victim's husband saw Harke trying to force himself upon the woman again on June 21 when she was bathing in a river in the village.
The woman, who was threatened with dire consequences earlier by Harke, later narrated the ordeal to her husband following which they filed a police complaint.
