Three dead as car hits another vehicle from behind

Three people were killed as the car they were travelling in rammed into an unidentified vehicle from behind near Somatane phata on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway today evening.

All three occupants of the car, which was heading towards Pune, died on the spot.

Two of the deceased were identified as Hemant Talekar (28), a resident of Uran near Mumbai, and Prafful Bihari (18). "The identity of the third deceased is yet to be ascertained," said an officer from Talegaon Dabhade police station.

The accident took place near Shirgaon Bridge near Somatane Phata at around 7.45 pm, he said.

"The car rammed into an unidentified heavy vehicle from behind. The other vehicle didn't stop after the accident," he said.
