Three officials suspended after cellphones found in jail

Following the seizure of cell phones and SIM cards from prisoners at Central Prison Cherlapalli here, a chief warden and two wardens were today placed under suspension for negligence of duty.

Chief warden Karunanidhi and wardens Ravi and Jagadish were suspended by Telangana Director-General of Prisons V K Singh, police sources said.

The three jail officials are accused of knowing that cell phones were being used by some prisoners but failing to seize them.
