Three women run over by truck

Three pavement dwellers were killed when a sand-laden truck ran them over on Etawah-Gwalior road in the wee hours.

The victims, belonging to a nomadic tribe, were sleeping in a roadside tent at Udi turn under Badhpura police station area when the truck hit them, killing them on the spot, police said.

The deceased have been identified as -- Ramvati (48), Suman (20) and Kamla (55), police said, adding that the driver of the truck fled the scene.

Meanwhile, locals demanding compensation staged a protest against the incident for over two hours.
