Tiger attacks man

attacked and injured by a tiger in the Bhira range forests under the south Kheri forest division.

Pappu, a resident of Kukra, was attacked by the big cat while he was collecting mushrooms in Bhira range, Sub Divisional Officer of forest department Som Nath Singh said.

Pappu suffered injuries in the head and shoulder region, Singh said adding, "he was rushed to a local hospital where his condition was stated as stable."

The SDO said the local villagers have been strictly warned not to venture into reserved forest areas as it may result in an unwarranted man-animal conflict.

The tiger fled the scene after the villagers and Pappu raised alarm.

 

Bhira and Mailani ranges in south Kheri forest division are in close vicinity of Kishanpur sanctuary of the Dudhwa Tiger Reserve.
