A tiger kept in an enclosure in the core area of Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve (BTR) here was found dead today.

The forest authorities said it was killed by another big cat.

"I too have received information of the tiger's death. As I am out of Bandhavgarh, I am rushing back," BTR Field Director Mridul Pathak told PTI.

The striped carnivore was captured from Kathar village in the buffer zone of BTR after it entered a human habitat on November 21, Forest department officials said.

They said the tiger was killed by another big cat which stormed into the enclosure last night.

Efforts were on to drive the killer tiger out of the enclosure to retrieve the carcass, they added.
