Trinamool Congress today refuted allegation of involvement of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's younger brother Kartick in a scuffle with the Alipore Zoo guards here.

The police remained tight lipped on whether Kartick's name came up in the case, but said that a case and a counter case had been filed by the groups involved in the fight.

The incident happened yesterday when a few people, led by Nayan Mondal and Mohitosh Sarkar, allegedly affiliated to Trinamool Congress, tried to enter Alipore Zoo during a programme of the chief minister.

Security guard of the Zoo, Mohammed Wasim, who is allegedly affiliated to Congress, opposed the entry of so many persons inside, which led to a fight between the guard, accompanied by his colleagues, and the persons wanting entry.

"A case has been filed by Md Wasim and a counter case has been filed against him by Nayan Mondal, that Md wasim and his supporters had beaten Nayan Mondal and his supporters. We are investigating the case, No arrests have been made so far," a senior police official said.

The allegation of Mamata's brother Kartik being involved in the scuffle was denied by TMC leader Derek O'Brien.

"News about the CM's brother involved in incident is a blatant lie. He wasn't even present there. Any excuse to smear CM," Derek tweeted.
