The Trinamool Congress (TMC) today formed the Board of the Alipurduar Municipality after six Congress Councillors joined the TMC.
Ashish Chandra Dutta of the TMC was elected the chairman of the Alipurduar Municipality while Ruma Chatterjee also of TMC was elected vice-chairman.
In the 20-member Alipurduar Municipality, the Left Front had eight Councillors while the TMC and Congress had six Councillors each.

As the six Congress Councillors joined the TMC, the party had a majority in the Alipurduar Municipality.
The TMC national general secretary Mukul Roy said "we (TMC) have taken the responsibility of the Alipuduar Municipality.
