TN assembly prorogued

The Tamil Nadu Assembly session, which commenced on January 8, was today prorogued by state Governor Banwarilal Purohit.

The assembly's first session of the year commenced with Purohit's address which was boycotted by the main opposition DMK along with its allies.

On March 15, the government presented a revenue deficit budget of Rs 17,490.58 crore for 2018-19.

After a recess, the session resumed on May 29 and adjourned sine die on July 9 after passage of demand for grants of various departments.

On the last day, a Bill was adopted for setting up Lokayukta to probe graft allegations against public servants.

During the session, the assembly also adopted several other bills including those for setting up two private universities.
