Togadia disallowed addressing meeting, not welcome says Assam

Vishwa Hindu Parishad leader Pravin Togadia was today not allowed by the Guwahati Police Commissionerate to attend a VHP meeting here and makinq any speech in the city.

Police Commissioner of Guwahati Jyotirmay Chakravarty by an order under section 144 CrPC directed Togadia to abstain from the meeting of the Golden Jubilee Celebration of the VHP Guwahati Samiti and "Makinq any speech therein, or making any inflammatory speech through any media in any part of the Guwahati Police Commissionerate."

Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi speaking to the media on the sidelines of a meeting said persons like Togadia should not be allowed to come as he "will put the state on fire. He is not a guest here".
 

The order will remain in force in the territorial area of Guwahati Police Commissionerate till his visit concludes, the notification said.

"It has been brought to my notice that various inflammatory speeches have been made bv Shri Pravinbhai Togadia, International Working President of VHP, at various places and that the said person is visiting the state of Assam and is likely to arrive at Guwahati on l2th of February 2O15", Chakravarty said.

The CP's notification also referred to a speech by Togadia today at a meeting at Pirthorkandi, Karimganj district, "Where he asked religious minority groups to reconvert to Hinduism, which is likely to create deep resentment and insecurity among minority communities and disturb public order".

VHP Assam unit's 'Prachar Pramukh' S D Sinha said many of the people coming in buses from far off places to attend the meeting were turned back by police before entering the city.
