Centre's tourism helpline has received over 17,900 calls since its launch last month in over 10 international languages, the Tourism Ministry said today.
"The tourist helpline of the ministry is gaining popularity among tourists and it has received a total of 17,911 calls as on March 20 since its launch on February 8," the ministry said.
The focus of the Tourist Infoline is on -- information, education and communication -- for the tourists, it said in a statement.

Moreover, the helpline assists callers with advice on action to be taken during times of distress while travelling in India and if need be alert the authorities concerned, it said.
Besides in English and Hindi, the Tourism Ministry had launched the round-the-clock toll-free tourist infoline in 10 other languages -- Arabic, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Chinese, Portuguese, Russian and Spanish.
