Toy bomb kills father, his two children in Pakistan

A father and two of his children, were killed and three others injured today when a toy bomb exploded in Pakistan's restive northwestern tribal region.

The incident occurred at a house in Swat district in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province of Pakistan.

"The father, his nine-year-old daughter and seven-year-old son died on the spot while two other children were wounded," police said, adding those injured were the man's other son and his nephew.

The injured were taken to a hospital nearby.

The children found the toy outside their house and brought it inside. They were playing with the toy when it suddenly exploded, family members said.
 

The origin of the toy bomb was unclear.The toy bomb had explosives concealed in it.

Police officials and bomb disposal squad arrived at the scene immediately and started an investigation into the explosion.

Mostly children in restive northwestern tribal region have lost their lives in the past playing with 'toys' that turned out to be bombs.
