The local trading community today protested against the police for "forcing" them to close their shops ahead of Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal's rally at old grain market here.
As Badal arrived at the venue, the representatives of Beopar Mandal lodged protest against the alleged high handedness of police who forced them to close their establishments.
Badal had gone to the old grain market to kick start party candidate Paramjit Kaur Gulshan's election campaign for the Faridkot Lok Sabha seat.
Later, the Chief Minister assured that he will ask the police not to harass them unnecessarily and also publicly assured that in future no political rally will be held in the old grain market.
