Turmeric prices were trading up by 1.50 per cent to Rs 5,550 per quintal in futures trade today as participants built up fresh positions, triggered by uptick in domestic as well export demand in the spot market.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, turmeric for delivery in June was trading higher by Rs 82, or 1.50 per cent, to Rs 5,550 per quintal, with an open interest of 13,145 lots.
Similarly, the spice for delivery this month increased by Rs 76, or 1.41 per cent, to Rs 5,450 per quintal, in an open interest of 6,585 lots.
Analysts said fresh positions created by participants following upsurge in domestic as well as export demand in the spot market against restricted supplies from producing regions mainly pushed up turmeric prices at futures trade.
