Turmeric prices rose by 2.53 per cent to Rs 9,310 per quintal in futures market today after participants built-up positions, supported by pick up in demand at the spot market.
Further, reports of lower output from the producing regions also fuelled the uptrend.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, turmeric for delivery in April rose by Rs 230 or 2.53 per cent to Rs 9,310 per quintal with an open interest of 33,590 lots.

Likewise, the spice for delivery in May moved up by Rs 222 or 2.43 per cent to Rs 9,370 per quintal in 12,940 lots.
Marketmen said widening of positions by speculators driven by rising demand in the spot market amid tight supplies from producing belts mainly led to the rise in turmeric prices at the futures trade.
