Two persons were killed and a woman seriously injured today when a speeding lorry knocked down their moped near Negamum, about 25 kms from here, police said.
A 55-year old priest, his wife and another relative were travelling by the moped when the mishap occurred.
The priest died on the spot while the relative succumbed to injuries in the Pollachi Government hospital, where his wife was undergoing treatment, police said.
A search was on for the lorry driver, who fled the scene after abandoning the vehicle, they said.
