Two members of chain-snatching gang arrested

Cyberabad Police has arrested two members of a gang, involved in as many as 80 robberies and chain snatching incidents here, officials said today.

The accused, identified as Mir Musthafa Ali, a salesman working here and Shaik Quayum, a marble worker and native of Meerut district of Uttar Pradesh, were arrested from Bairamalguda here yesterday and gold ornaments weighing 1.5 kg recovered from them, a release by Cyberabad Police said.

The duo had been operating actively since 2014. On April 18 this year, Ali and Quayum attacked a police constable of an anti-chain snatching team when he tried to catch them at L B Nagar here and fled, police said.
 

Four special teams were formed to nab the accused and they were finally apprehended yesterday, police added.
