Two officials booked for embezzlement of Rs. 88 lakhs

The State Food Corporation (SFC)'s district manager Md. Islam lodged the FIR yesterday against the paddy procurement centre in-charge-cum-block statistics officer Anand Bihari Chaudhary and his assistant Ravikant for embezzlement of Rs. 88 lakhs in procurement of paddy during Kharif season last year, the sources said.

In the complaint, Islam said that accused persons swindled the amount by fudging the quantity of paddy procured at the procurement centre in Kochadhaman block, they said.

Raids were being carried out to arrest the accused who were absconding, the sources added.
