Two labourers suffered serious burns injuries today at the Anpara thermal power plant of the UP Utpadan Nigam in this district.

Pervez (30) and Pramod (25) received serious burns when red-hot pieces of burning coal fell on them while they were mixing the fuel in a machine in the Anpara unit, police said.

Both were rushed to the Anpara hospital from where they were referred to Varanasi, they said.

A major tragedy was averted as most of the labourers were working on the other side when the accident took place, they said.

The incident comes just a day after an explosion at NTPC's Unchahar power plant in the Rae Bareli district of Uttar Pradesh claimed atleast 29 lives.
