Two women were today killed when a portion of a quarry where they were excavating red sand, collapsed on them at Majgawan area, around 60 km from the district headquarters, police said.
Brinda Lodhi (52) and Saraswati Burman (40) were buried alive when a portion of the quarry caved in, Majgawan police station Inspector Shabana Parvez said.
Other women, also engaged in the excavation work, informed the police, following which the bodies of the two were pulled out from the five-foot-deep mine with the help of the locals.

After the post-mortem, the bodies were handed to the family members.
According to Parvez, the villagers were extracting red sand to paint their houses ahead of the Diwali festival.
A case has been registered, the officer added.
