The Uttarakhand government today arranged for funds worth Rs 70 crore out of its own resources for paying scholarships to SC, ST and OBC students besides promising to make similar arrangements for payment of dues to sugarcane growers.
It has been done on the directives of the chief minister in view of the problems being faced by students belonging to these sections due to funds not being released by the Centre.
With this arrangement SC/ST and OBC students will start getting their scholarships soon, Chief Minister Harish Rawat told reporters.
Funds worth Rs 70 crore are also being arranged for payment of dues to sugarcane farmers which will also be done soon, he said.
