Unaccounted foreign currency worth Rs 58 lakh seized

Unaccounted foreign currency worth Rs 58 lakh was today seized from a 48-year-old man at the airport here, airport authorities said.

He was detained and is being interrogated by appropriate authorities, airport officials said.

The currency, which includes USD and Euro was seized after a screening of the baggage of Madi Narayana, a resident of Vijayawada in Andhra Pradesh.

He was detained before he could board a flight to Dubai scheduled for departure at 3.50 pm.

Action, as stipulated by law, will be taken soon, they said and added he will be arrested if he did not account for the money.
