Unmarried grand-daughters to get right over ancestral assets

The Uttar Pradesh government is all set to introduce a bill giving ancestral property rights to maiden grand-daughters who have lost their father.

The Revenue Code (Amendment) Bill will be tabled in the budget session of the Uttar Pradesh legislature, commencing tomorrow.

"The UP Revenue Code (Amendment) Bill, 2018, will be introduced in the assembly session (commencing tomorrow). In this, amendments have been made in clauses 108 and 110 in the original act (Uttar Pradesh Revenue Code, 2006) to give rights over ancestral land to grand-daughters who have lost their father," an official spokesperson said here.

The proposal regarding the amendment was approved by the state cabinet at its meeting chaired by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath yesterday.
