UP Police to invoke NSA against those disturbing public order

Uttar Pradesh Police will initiate action under the National Security Act (NSA) against persons disturbing public order, a senior officer said here today.

"The DGP has issued a detailed circular in which it has been stated that action under the NSA must be taken against those disturbing the public order," IG (Law and Order) A Satish Ganesh said.

He said directive has been issued for taking stern action against those disturbing law and order.

Ganesh said district level officers have been asked to take seriously incidents involving people of different communities.

"The DGP has directed that if Non-Cognizable Report is filed in such cases, inquiry must be completed within 24 hours," he said.
 

The IG said that in case an FIR was lodged in such cases prompt action should be taken so that if does not create tension in the neighbouring areas.
