A wanted criminal was arrested from Uttar Pradesh's Shamli district after an exchange of fire with the police.
Two police personnel were also injured in the encounter, the police said today.
Israr, who was wanted in several cases, carried a reward of Rs 1,500. He had escaped from police custody in Saharanpur seven months ago, Superintendent of Police Ajaypal Sharma said.
Israr, who sustained injuries, and the two policemen were shifted to a hospital.
