Veterinary surgeon held for accepting Rs 200 bribe

A veterinary doctor was arrested by the Lokayukta Police for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 200 for issuing a physical verification certificate at Sanawad town in Khargone district here.

Acting on a tip-off, police laid a trap and arrested Rajesh Pradhan, posted as an assistant veterinary surgeon at Sanawad, accepting a bribe of Rs 200, Lokayukta sources said.

The complainant Sevakram had applied for a loan for the construction of a shade for domestic animals for which he had to submit a physical verification certificate to be given by the veterinary doctor.

For issuing the certificate Pradhan allegedly demanded Rs 200 from Sevakram following which he informed Lokayukta police about it.
 

A case has been registered under Prevention of Corruption Act against Pradhan and further investigations are on.
